PALM COAST--Dr. James Van Dusen, 46, of Caribe Court, owner and operator of the Heart Health Institute, died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach. 

Dr. Van Dusen was born in Kearny, N.J., and came here 11 years ago from Union, N.J. He earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, New Jersey, and his doctor of osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines, Iowa.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Flagler County Rotary Club, Phi Beta Kappa and numerous osteopathic, cardiological and internal medicine organizations. 

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two sons, Matthew and Scott, a daughter, Heidi Van Dusen, and his father, James, all of Palm Coast; and a sister, Susan Caruso, Haworth, N.J.

Craig Funeral Home, Bunnell, is in charge.
